Sophomore Will Sullivan went 2-3, knocked in two runs and junior pitcher Cort Roedig threw five innings of one-hit ball, allowed just one hit, no earned runs and struck out eight in Baseball’s 4-1 victory over Boone. DP (5-2) found itself down 1-0 heading into the sixth inning but exploded for four runs. The Panthers loaded the bases on singles by James Hurst and Raymond Negron and a walk to Bailey Kossoff. Hamzah Nobles’ groundout brought home Hurst with the tying run and Will Sullivan laced a double into the center field gap to score Negron and Kossoff for a 3-1 lead. After Brandon Fields singled to second, August Haymaker’s single to right scored Sullivan for the final count. On the JV Baseball circuit, DP came up short to Boone, allowing a five-run third inning, in a 5-4 loss. CJ Cantwell went 1-1 with a double, RBI, two walks and scored twice. Varsity will head to Boone tomorrow while JV will host the Braves; first pitch for both set for 4:30.
