Dr. Phillips Baseball spotted visiting Oak Ridge three first inning runs but responded with seven runs of their own to beat their district rival, 7-4. In the bottom of the first, the Panthers trailed 3-1 before Will Sullivan belted a two-out, two-run double into the gap to tie the game at 3-3. Two innings later, DP got things rolling again with leadoff walk by Brandon Fields and a base hit by Sebastian Oetterer. With two on and nobody out, August Haymaker laid down a bunt to move the runners over but the throw to first sailed into the right field corner, scoring both runners to give DP a 5-3 lead. With one out, James Hurst grounded out to bring home Haymaker for a 6-3 lead and that was all the Panthers needed. Hamzah Nobles went 2-3 with an RBI, a run scored and stole a base while Brandon Fields and August Haymaker each scored twice. Cort Roedig got the call on the hill and settled down after a rough first inning, going five complete innings while striking out six. Casey Carns came on in the sixth to pitch two innings of scoreless relief and picked up the save. DP (10-6) has won four straight, their longest winning streak of the season, and will wrap up their season series with Oak Ridge Friday.
