Baseball banged out 16 hits with six players turning in multiple hit performances in a 12-8 victory over host Oak Ridge. DP (12-5) broke open a sleepy 1-1 game in the fourth inning with a two-run single by James Hurst and tacked on five more in the fifth. An RBI triple by Hamzah Nobles, a run-scoring single by Bailey Kossoff, another RBI triple from August Haymaker and an RBI base hit from James Hurst accounted for four of the five runs as DP surged to an 8-1 lead. That wouldn't last, though, as Oak Ridge rallied for four runs to cut their deficit to 8-5. In the sixth, DP rallied for two more runs on back-to-back RBI singles from Hamzah Nobles and Bailey Kossoff to push the lead to 10-5. Oak Ridge had plenty of fight left, picking up two runs to make it 10-7, but the Panthers punched right back in the seventh with two more runs. Sebastian Oetterer singled and scored on an RBI base hit by Will Sullivan and August Haymaker walked and eventually stole home for DP's final tally. The Panthers have now won five straight and, in the process, closed out their district record at 8-2. Earlier in the week, DP was notified that Colonial HS had to forfeit their 1-0 victory over the Panthers due to an eligibility oversight with a player, hence the Panthers' record now stands at 12-5. They'll head to West Orange Tuesday.
