Flag Football went into Monday night's game at West Orange with an undefeated record, a number five ranking in the latest state poll, and played exactly as advertised in a 48-0 thrashing of the host Warriors. DP (6-0) jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead in the first quarter when Tiffany Tolbert's interception set up a three-yard touchdown pass from Kaylee Messina to Aaliyah Govan. Still in the first, Nisa Costa stepped in front of a West Orange pass that set up a touchdown run by Govan to double the lead at 14-0. The defense gave the offense another gift at the outset of the second quarter when Govan picked off a pass that put the Panthers in scoring position again. Kaylee Messina then found Nisa Costa for a 20-yard score for a 21-0 lead. Like defense?  Here's more...freshman Aunjani Miller got in on the action with DP's fourth interception of the half to set up a 30-yard touchdown run by Aaliyah Govan for a 28-0 halftime lead. Miller opened up the third quarter with a 50-yard interception return for a touchdown and Rukalya Winters registered the team's sixth interception, returning that for a touchdown as well. Up 41-0, Stephanie Oliveira gave DP a school-record seven interceptions with her fourth quarter pick which led to a 40-yard touchdown run by Aaliyah Govan on an option pitch for the final margin. Megan Lapeyrouse caught four extra point passes while Nisa Costa hauled in two. JV Flag Football played to a 6-6 draw with West Orange as their record now stands at 2-1-2. Both squads will host Jones Wednesday night.
