DP Baseball, winners of six of their last seven games, scored four runs in the second inning and held off a pair of late inning surges in a 6-3 victory over visiting Edgewater. Raymond Negron's two-out, two-run single to center scored Will Sullivan and Jacob Hartman to give DP a 2-0 lead in the second. Hamzah Nobles then delivered an RBI single to center to bring home Negron for the third run before Bailey Kossoff capped the rally with an RBI double to left. DP (13-6) added two more runs in the third inning as James Hurst roped a one-out single into left field that scored Jordan Peace and August Haymaker for a 6-1 lead. Edgewater would threaten with runs in the fifth and sixth innings but it was too little too late. Mitchell Stockwell got the start and the victory, allowing just two runs on five hits while striking out four in four and two-thirds innings. Casey Carns came on in relief in the fifth and Sam Fonville picked up the save in a scoreless seventh. DP will head to Olympia Tuesday.
On the JV side, the Panthers overcame a seven-run fourth inning by Edgewater and scored four runs in the sixth to tie the game at 9-9 but couldn't hang on as Edgewater scored the game-winner in the bottom of the sixth. Strong outings by Anibal Quevedo and Stephen Lutrell, each went 3-4 and scored twice, while Joel Joffe knocked in a team-high four runs. DP will look to snap a six-game slide at Apopka Monday before wrapping up their season Tuesday against Olympia.
