4/27/2017 11:23:00 PM

DP Flag Football ran their record to a perfect 12-0 on the season after registering their sixth shutout of the year, 25-0, over host Apopka, to clinch the Metro West Conference title for the first time since 2014. Late in the first quarter, Aaliyah Govanreturned a punt 20 yards and pitched it back to    Nisa Costa who raced 60 yards for a touchdown to put the Panthers on the board, 6-0. Fast forward to the second quarter where Kaylee Messina connected with Nisa Costa on a fourth and goal pass for a 15-yard touchdown to double the lead to 12-0 into the halftime break. After a scoreless third, Messina found Tiffany Tolbert for a 15-yard touchdown pass to push the lead to 18-0 and two plays later, Megan Lapeyrouse stepped in front of an Apopka pass and returned it 55 yards for a touchdown. Govan then found Lapeyrouse for the extra point pass to cap the 25-0 victory. With the regular season in the books, DP will now focus on the District Tournament, which begins Monday at 7:00 pm vs. West Orange.
