Flag Football charges into championship

Senior quarterback Kaylee Messina threw four touchdown passes, two to senior Tiffany Tolbert, as Flag Football waxed West Orange, 38-0, in the District Semifinal last night in the Spoone. DP (13-0) came out of the gate on a mission, scoring quickly on their first two drives of the first quarter. Messina connected with Tolbert for a two-yard score and then found sophomore Nisa Costa for a 15-yard score in the back of the end zone for a 14-0 lead. Was a quiet second quarter for the Panthers, however, until 1:40 left in the half. The Panther defense backed  up the Warriors deep in their own end of the field and it cost West Orange dearly. Tiffany Tolbert intercepted a West Orange pass at the seven yard line and one play later, Aaliyah Govan skated in from seven yards out to push the lead to 20-0 at the break. Messina and Tolbert hooked up one more time for a four-yard touchdown play to give DP a 26-0 lead after three quarters and nailed the coffin shut in the fourth. Govan pulled down a nine-yard pass from Messina and backed her way into the end zone for a 32-0 lead and freshman Aunjani Miller sent the Panthers to the District Chamnpinship, icing the victory with a 17-yard interception return for a touchdown for the 38-0 final. The Panthers will host Timber Creek Thursday night at 6:00 pm  for the District Championship.
