Smith struck gold in the 100 backstroke (second year in a row) and 100 fly and led off on both winning relays. DP won five events and finished in the top three in nine of 13. In the opening event of the night, the 200 medley relay team of Smith, Paola Hernandez, Roseleen Olivares and Caroline Grzeszczak touched the wall first to take the title. Smith, Sam Horency, Grzeszczak and Olivares would team up for a dominating victory later on in the 200 free relay. In the 200 freestyle, Senior Caroline Grzeszczak picked up the first of her three championships of the night and followed up with a silver medal finish in the 100 free. Senior Roseleen Olivares was the Metro West Champion in the 500 freestyle and took second in the 200 IM. Senior Paola Hernandez placed second in the 100 breaststroke and fourth in the 500 freestyle. In the nightcap, DP's 400 freestyle relay team of Sam Horency, Bailey Valdes, Julia Batzer and Paola Hernandez claimed a bronze medal finish. The District Championship looms in two weeks, October 24th, at the Aquatic Center.
