Men's Swimming and Diving earned the 2017 District Runner-Up trophy

Men's Swimming and Diving 2nd at District

Senior diver Manny Vazquez ran away with the individual title and Men's Swimming placed in the top three in six other events to finish runners-up in the 2017 District Championship. Vazquez tallied 542.3 points to take home the gold while senior Alex Kaiser had a great showing as well with 353.1 points to take fourth. The Panthers earned a runner-up finish in the 200 free relay with juniors Gavin Collins, Gabe Madej, James Sweet and Max Meisenheimer (1:32.60), which automatically qualifies them for the Regional Championship. DP finished third in five events with James Sweet (200 free; 1:52.47), Max Meisenheimer (100 free; 50.32), junior Dan Magrino (500 free; 5:04.01) as well as the 200 medley relay (seniors Raphael Sessa and Stefan Klumb, Magrino, Madej; 1:49.0 2) and  400 free relay (Collins, Sweet, Magrino, Meisenheimer; 3:23.82). DP earned much-needed points with top 16 finishes including Gavin Collins (fourth) and Dan Magrino (sixth) in the 200 free; Raphael Sessa (fourth), freshman Ricky Cheng (eighth) and freshman Max Collingwood (tenth) in the 100 backstroke; Max Meisenheimer (fourth), Gabe Madej (ninth) and Stefan Klumb (tenth) in the 50 free; James Sweet (fifth) in the 500 free; Gabe Madej (fifth), Stefan Klumb (seventh) and Collin Haugh (14th) in the 100 breast; Gavin Collins (eighth) in the 100 free; Raphael Sessa (eighth) and Isaac Teran (ninth) in the 200 IM; and Isaac Teran (eighth) and Alex Kaiser (16th) in the 100 fly. WIth Vazquez and the 200 free relay automatically advancing, DP will await the results from other districts to see who qualifies for next Saturday's Regional Championship in St. Petersburg.
