After battling back from an early deficit to take a two-goal lead in the third quarter, Men's Water Polo couldn't hang on and fell to Olympia in overtime, 10-9, in the District Championship. DP (20-6) trailed at the half, 4-3, but put four in the cage in the third quarter to lead 7-6 heading into the fourth. Olympia would score the game-tying goal with less than 40 seconds left in regulation and in overtime, recovered an offensive rebound and slipped it in the cage for the 10-9 victory. Senior goaltender and Academic All-American Tyler Haugh had an outstanding final game, finishing with 17 saves to give him a school-record 268 this season, eclipsing his own mark set a year earlier. Haugh also notched 46 steals and 31 assists this season, tied with fellow senior Jake Meisenheimer for second on the team. For Jake Meisenheimer, also an Academic All-American, he wraps up his senior season with 52 goals (second on the team), and 53 steals (third). In a team filled with young talent, the senior leadership and guidance of Haugh and Meisenheimer were essential the last two seasons and are primarily responsible for the growth of sophomore players Max Meisenheimer (team high 118 goals, 23 assists, 52 steals), Dan Magrino (24 goals, team-high 68 assists (second all-time), team-high 66 steals), James Sweet (33 goals (third), 30 assists, 59 steals (second)) as well as many more. Any season that ends in a loss is disappointing but there's much to be proud of and certainly much more to look forward to in the coming years!
